Here is my first AR-15
1. I bought the upper at Knob Creek gun shoot for $250 all parts are colt ( rec , bolt ,barrel  )
2. Stock at AIM $29
3. Lower receiver Local Gun Shop DPMS $129
4. Clip local $12
5. Parts Kit lower Colt local (ouch) $79
6. Screw missing out of kit at hardware store .40
$499.40 total
I think I could have pulled it off for about $459 but the upper receiver and lower parts kits cost more than I have seen but most places were out.
Since I have seen the same upper for $499 so I think this buy at $250 was the big saver I went on Friday and had my pick of about 100 uppers. The barrel is chrome lined and came with flash hider .I may paint or refinish it later. Thanks to this web site for the great info that is on file here I could not have got it done without the help of you

Not to the range yet .I want to check bolt spacing and have a buddy of mine who is a x GI trainer at Fort Knox look it over good.
My CETME will have to keep it company for now but I have to say I have the build bug .I have been looking at IMI Gaili guns or i might build an HK
