Hello all:
another newbie question: So, all i have to do is field strip my Oly Arms and install another upper to it and it's a different type of gun? long barrle to short (16 inch) barrel? 2 pins? switch, that's it? Can't be that easy... not my luck. i have a post 24 inch bbl and looking for a little light one, but want to keep long bbl for varment hunting.
what am i missing???    i've been reading this board sence about Jan of this year, learned alot.. do's and don'ts...
thanks guys.

Thats it.  Its just that simple.

Of course, it is wiser to get a complete upper... so you dont have to swap bolt carrier assemblies between uppers...... but not totally necessary.

WOW,, so why would i spend a grand on a new rifle, when all I have to do is get a quality upper, complete, for like $400???.

Oh thats an easy one.  You obviously only have the very beginning stages of black rifle disease.  First symptoms are purchase of an EBR (evil black rifle).  Later, the early symptoms grow into multiple uppers for your one lower.  As the disease progresses, metastasis is evident, and you will need a lower for each upper, because you are tired of swapping, or you want different lower options (triggers, stocks, grips).   In the last stages of the disease, full on gear queerness sets in, the are many rifles and spare parts laying all around the house, and there is no cure or possible treatment when you have reached this stage.

I will say a prayer for you and your family.  My condolences.

yup... got a new upper 16 Post Ban, got a good deal on it. It's alot lighter than my old upper, but now,, old upper is sitting all by it's self in the gun casehouldI think i'm in a good support group here... Now, my wife might think otherwise. oh, wait,, maybe i can get a cute pink funiture for it, for her.. might work???she always says we never do anything togeather any more.

+1

I don't even bother buying an upper to put on one of my existing lowers any more - they inevitably grow a new lower anyway, so I just spend the extra $150 and build one to go with each upper.

The words, "my wife would kill me if..." followed by:

1. she saw this
2. knew how much I really paid for this
3. she knew the safe is full
4. she knew the safe is full again
5....

will become part of your vocabulary. Wait until you start barreling your own uppers. Can somebody
give me a better reason for a four rail floater than because I can or it just looks so COOOL!!

Someone please pray for me too.  I am at the stage where I have spare parts lying around and more on the way in the mail.....
