Hey everyone,
 Ameetec Lower+M1S kit= pivot pin/spring bottoming out before going flush with the receiver.
WTF?!?  spring measures 1" uncompressed, pin is 5/8".
is there crud in the shaft? how to clean? is the spring too long?

Needless to say I am VERY distraught right now!!
any info would be great!!

First, RELAX.... Breathe!

This happens from time to time and more often than not, it's simply a little "flash" or as you put it, CRAP down in the hole. EASILY resolves.

I do NOT remember the size drill bit I have used to solve this problem, but, find a bit that is slightly smaller than the diameter of the hole, insert bit by hand ONLY, when you meet resistance, turn the bit clockwise, as you feel the resistance giv way, a few more turns and remove the bit, blow off the metal crap that attached to it, then re-insert the bit and repeat a few times until desired clearance is achieved. EASY, no sweat, no worries, VOILA! And then you are in business!

Breathing...in...out...here...There is a hole on the side of the receiver that seems to indicate where the spring should come to rest. Should the bit or spring go beyond the hole? Seems to stop at the hole pretty solidly...

Hey I'm a newbee, but I've had that same problem on an ameetec, and a bushy...  try the drill bit as suggested above.   Make sure you don't got any manufacturing burrs or garbage hanging out in there... JUST USE YOUR FINGERS!  NO DRILLS!!!

If that doesn't get it, take some nice wire cutters and nip off a coil from the spring... if it fits, good, if not then nip off another and try again....  (that is what I eventually had to do with both of my similar troubles).  

If you read the assembly guide on this site, you find it mentions doing this (It was mentioned in the pistolgrip section in regards to the selector detent)

Hey, I understand!

Remove the detent and spring first! Then guide that bit down the hole until you feel it "want" to stop. then gently turn the bit clockwise. :) If you do this gently, you shouldn't be cutting "hard metal" that wasn't already cut to allow the insertion of the spring and detent, essentially, what's hanging things up is metal shavings from the original drilling process.

Could seem to clear any flash or make the hole deeper, so...
It works fine.  Sorry for the freak out! Been waitin' a while to build this!!
