Looking for barrel threading die for AR.  Brownells' out.  Can't find one on Midway.  Who else may carry it?  Anyone willing to rent me one?  I am planning on installing a flash suppresser this weekend.  Just found out the brake was not only pinned, it was also red loctite on.  I wanted to use the die to clean up the loctite residue and sharpen the threading.  Thanks.

I made one of those and I ordered my die from Brownells for around $15.

You don't need a die.  Just use a torch and a razor blade to cut out the junk, then put the flash hider on and off a few times.

Why the 1" OD when the OD of threading from one side to the other is approximately less than .5"?  Sorry, Mickey, I am obviously new to this thread chasing stuff.

That means you need a die holder that accepts 1" OD dies.  That die cuts 1/2-28TPI, exactly what you need.

I ruined an A2 birdcage doing that, thinking it would clean up threads on its own.  Get the die first.

Oh well, KBC is all out of the 1/2-28 dies anyway.  I got one from the boys in Idaho (Dyna Systems), though. A bit pricier compare to the others.  But hey, it's made in America right out of a small machine shop in ID!

And thanks for the education on the die spec stuff.
