In replacing my buttstock the takedown detent spring came out crimped on one end and when I tried to straighten it out, the crimped end piece broke off.  I know that I should replace it with a proper spring, but is there any other way?  Can I stretch the spring I have and will it work if I do that? Any other "home remedys" that people have tried?  I know its only a .50 cent piece, but I would have to wait until the next gun show and thats a month away.

Stretching it out will be fine.  If you had a spare detent or roll pin, you could run two detents to take up some spring length.... you just need a little pressure on the rear takedown detent to holt the pin in place.
