I live in california and am hoping to either A purchase a california legal version of the AR15 or possibly build one around the fab ten lower receiver.

I am completely new to the ar15, but have many other firearms including an sks and mini 14.

Is there any machining required to build around the fab ten lower receiver?  Are all parts interchangeable?  For example, could I buy an armalite barrel and upper receiver that would work with this?  any help or direction would help greatly!  Many thanks!

Awesome Question.  I think it would be very wise for you to call the Manufacturer of the FAB 10 and present your questions to them directly.  The FAB 10 is manufactured by a "Mom and Pop" type organization and they enjoy visiting with each of their clients.  They really go the extra mile to set you straight.

Yes, I believe all parts are interchangeable except the fixed ten-round magazine. Also you save a mag release.

Too bad, Kalifornians still have no juice after AWB going south. Even worse, the Gorvenor Arnold just signed AB50 which bans all 50-caliber firearms. Damn! I am building a single-shot AR lower for a 50-caliber rifle..... so sad.....
