for $35 when I order my upper is it worth it?

Well...
If you are buying a flattop, 16" upper and plan on using flip-up sites or other optics, a weaver gas block is a good idea.
If you're buying an upper with a carrying handle, then go with the A2 front site post.
When I ordered my upper from Model1Sales it didn't cost anything extra to have the gasblock...
