On a colt lower, is it just the two pins that are different or do I have to buy a whole colt lower kit? Can I just pick up any old lower parts kit and just buy the two pins extra?

Depends on what lower you have. Trigger and hammer pins on Colt's are typically .170.  You will need the trigger and hammer pins along with trigger, hammer, and disconnector that match. Other than these parts any lower kit will work.

You may also have a large pivot pin, there is an adapter to use uppers with mil-spec pivot pin holes.
