i assume on the CAR stock that the recoil spring jsut drops into the stock?

it hangs on the nipple of the the buffer retainer so you have to monkey with it a little to get it in. but no big deal. depress the buffer retainer to get the buffer assembly in. once you start putting it together you will see how easy it is. |

thanks dude, i'm sure i'll figure it out. this is my first "from scratch" gun build. so i'm learming along the way(i have worked on several firearms before.... plus, i figure if i can build my own computer i can PROBABLY put together my own AR15) |

The tube (receiver extension) retains the buffer spring retaining pin and spring by passing over the top flange on the pin a little bit when you thread it onto the lower. The receiver extension is then retained by a locking ring/nut thingy that's torqued on with a spanner type wrench (not shown in that photo). This locking ring/nut thingy is screwed on the receiver extension before the extension is screwed onto the lower, then tightened up against the lower. |

Here you go KingpinGTI.
With thanks to BlammO. There kind of blured but you can see that the buffer retaining pin is held down by the end of the buffer tube (receiver extension). The locking ring just behind, and up tight against the receiver holds the buffer tube on and in place.   |
