These uppers have minor blemishs on them. Dave Larish was very upfront about telling me about the blemishs. When I got mine I had to take it outside into bright sunlight and use a magnifying glass to find the blemish. These uppers are milspec and have a dry film lubricant (I think that means TEFLON) on them. But the best thing is that they only cost $35.00 plus shipping.
They have A2 and A3 uppers available. Contact Dave Larish at Grizzly / LAR Manufacturing 807.280.3505 or [email protected] These are stripped uppers only. |

I just ordered an A3 upper today from Dave Larisch at Grizzly. He said they are mil-spec, finished uppers with the T marks on the top.
IMHO, I think the company is very picky about the finish of their uppers and will not sell them to their vendors if the finish is not up to their standards. Translation- if you ain't picky about a blemish on the finish, then you can't beat the price. BTW, they are stripped, so you'll have to add the other parts The lady at Grizzly LAR that took my order said they usually have a blemished upper or two on hand to sell. It didn't sound like it was a one time thing. Maybe I could post a picture of it after I receive it. |

I bought one of these from him for my paintball marker when they were $55..TOP NOTCH Quality, you can't even find the blemish. You won't be disappointed!
Wait, huh...
You bought an AR15 upper for your paintball marker? I'm confused... |
They have a ton of A2s and a few A3s. Super nice ppl to deal with
the LAR upper i bought was blemished enough that i didnt want to use it to bulid my gun...so i ordered a mega upper from ameetec.
I just ordered an A3 upper today for $43 shipped and already have a tracking number saying I will have it on tuesday .

ARin,
What was the matter with the upper you picked up from them? Any pics? |
Dave said the blemishes were a bit more noticable this time around hence the $35 price. Mine has small milling marks around the EPort/fwd assist...I can barely see mine

I got mine & there was one blemish in the on the side about size of pin prick. Since this one is going on a build that is going to get Kryloned, it really doesn't matter.
I paid with postal money order & the turn around was one day. Going to get another one. ¿What better feedback can one get? wganz ¶ |

My upper had what looked like a "run" in the finish right under the area blemished on CJ's. But on mine, the FU is so slight that I know you couldn't see it in a photo. Once it was oiled up, you can barely see it outside in bright sunlight.
Finish matches my old Bushmaster lower really well. It also fits on my RockRiver lower without any fileing, fitting or fumbling-around with. I ought to get another! |
OOOOOOH I cant wait for mine! I am going to scrap on old A2 upper because it got painted.
Big folly. |
I put a call and an e-mail to them for at least one of each if they have them. Going to order my Bushmaster M-4 barrel tomorrow.

The big brown truck just dropped mine off and I tore the box open right away . There is a blemish on the forward assist and four more on the other side . They all stand out because of whatever they used to touch up the spots is shinnier than the normal finish . Thats ok though I geuss its time build this one and do the camo job I have been putting off , I'm about to have a couple of post ban barrels laying around that are coming off of my good uppers . So lets see $43 blemished upper + post ban barrel that would just collect dust = a good beater upper for range use .

I have ordered a few from Dave at LAR...right before ebay stopped selling ar stuff he had some auctions for these uppers. I tried many times but didn't win any. A quick call to Dave and they were in the mail. The blemishs that are on mine are not too bad.
Well guys, just placed a call. They are fresh out of a3 blemished uppers.
I guess I'm picky but looking at those blemishes makes me want to spend the extra to get one without the flaws. Blemishes keep me up late at night.
Too each their own, but how much do ya think a Mil-Spec forged receiver with Tmarks on top goes for? (I have no idea that is why im asking) I very much doubt they go for $35bux, plus 9outa10 times the lowers and uppers dont match so alot of ppl get the whole thing refinished. my .02 |
well at EE, they are going for $79 with T-markings. I've had great success with using the same brand upper and lower when it concerns matching the finish.
WIth the A3 uppers all gone I am sure glad I ordered mine when I did . At the time of my order Dave said they had plenty of them in stock . I geuss with the power of the internet there is plenty of people on this board that got a good deal like me .
I like what I have gotten from LAR. I have gotten both uppers and lowers.
I got my so called blemished A3 in Monday afternoon and I am still trying to find the blemish...well worth my money.
My upper has two smooth spots where the finish is glossy instead of flat.
Whoopty do. I am very satisfied with the product. |
Phone number is wrong, area code is 801, otherwise ok. They were out when I called.

Anybody get one they dont want? I plan to call them but surely they'll be completely out.... ?
I already posted that they were out of A3 uppers, but does anyone know about the A2 uppers? They had some left last week.
Correct, as of early this week, they were out of the A3 uppers, but Dave said they had some A3 uppers left that were in a little better shape, and they are selling for $48. I bought one of these and also one of the A2 uppers. I think he said they had a few A2 $35 uppers left. Even for $48 for the A3 uppers, you just can't beat that price
I can't wait to get mine Justin |
I bought a few A2's Thursday. He said they had some slightly blemished A3 for 48 plus shipping when I called.
Does anyone know if our receivers are dry teflon lubed or whatever it is?
I have bought regular A2 uppers from them that had the grey everlube in them with a standard black anodized finish outside. I bought LAR uppers from Brownells that look to be just a black anodized finish inside and out. And I have a lower from them that is anodized and has a black teflon coating. I guess there is no way to know except ask what they have when you order.
the 35 dollar blem upper i recieved from them was more lke a dent rather than a blem. i definite flat spot on the right side of the upper about in the middle....about 1.5 inches long, .5 inch wide. it was bad enough that i worried it would make my AR look like a beater, so i just set it aside and ordered a 1st quality uper from a different company. aside from the blem, the upper looked like a nice piece. |
Interested in making your $35 back? I'll take it off your hands. |

Mr45....i may or may not already have it sold to a friend of mine...however if the deal falls through, ill let you know.
I showed a friend mine yesterday and he had a hard time spotting the problems, but it seems there are diff. levels of blemishes, so dunno. I guess its a crap shoot, but for the price ya cant really go wronge. After all these are Franken ARs anyways.
I have learned something from this - make sure I get all the product I need or want before I post anything on AR15.com .....
