Are the CDNN uppers Colt, or all contractors? What color - grey, black, etc?

Incidentally, are the barrels Colt, or SAK, etc.?

Is my stripped Eagle lower a good color match, or should I get a greyish CMT?

Just wondering. So many projects...

I recently bought one of the A1 uppers from CDNN. After removing the packing grease the fisish is a dark Colt gray. It's a close match to my older pre-ban gray eagle arms lower, but I doubt that it would match anyone's newer receivers. There's always the option of refinishing the lower with the spray on moly resin from John Norrell arms. I understand that he has a Colt gray that matches quite well. After the AWB sunsets, I plan to go this route myself with a new lower.

The upper receiver and barrell are Colt, and are maked accordingly.

A trick that I sometimes use to match off color uppers and lowers is to take some Corning Z-Powder (a molyybdemum powder), mix it with oil into a paste and rub it into the receivers. After the paste soaks in/dries, a powder coat is left that is very close to the old Colt color. It's pretty resilient, but not a hard, permanent finish. The Norrell resin/moly mix with heat curing sounds like a much better bet.

Here's John's site:

Which was darker gray, the Colt's upper, or the pre-ban gray Eagle lower?
