From their web site, they make lots of high-precision parts in other industries too.
Anybody know about them?
Bought anything from them?

Another source of lowers and parts couldn't be bad.... I suspect--but don't know-- that they're wholesale only, though.

I bought a CMT lower at a gun show.  There were several other makes present so I had a chance to "eyeball" them next to others.  It looked great so I got it.  Haven't tried it out yet but am very impressed with it so far.

Their AR15s are of course labeled CMT15.  The "dealer" I got it from thought CMT meant Colt Machine Technologies!  It wasn't till I saw an earlier CMT thread here that I found out what CMT really meant.

The earlier thread is at http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=12&t=173729&w=searchPop

I have never seen a CMT upper.

What kind of finish?

I think the finish is manganese phosphate, but to my layman's eyes I would just call it flat black.  The finish is a perfect match for the Model 1 upper though.  You would think they were built in the same plant.

My two home built ARs were on CMT lowers.  One also has a CMT upper.  I am very happy with the fit and finish.  Quite honestly, my lightweight carbine built on a CMT has taken the coveted spot of "favorite" AR kicking my Bushmaster to second.

Thanks for the link. Wonder who else has them at maybe a better price. I heard of a CT shop selling both the upper and lower at around $150 for both.

racer934--seems like I heard about them from one of your posts, actually.  Can you post a pic of your lower, with markings?

I met a couple employees of CMT who had a table at the Big E gunshow (in Springfield, Ma) They were selling upper & lowers, along with bolts, extractors, barrel extensions and a muzzle brake of their own design.

I made arrangments to buy 2 upper/lower sets, and picked them up right at the factory in New Britan, Ct. The plant was right next door to Metalform (the magazine company) and right down the street from Okay (our beloved military magazine maker!)

They (CMT) were also making uppers & lowers for Bushmaster & RRA, along with various other AR15 components (bolts & carriers for 9mm Colt's, for example)

Finish on the CMT uppers & lowers is mil-spec type-3 hard annodize, with an Everlube 626 coating in the bolt carrier channel in the upper (the same stuff as in the Bushmasters)

Hoffman's gun center in Newington, Ct is selling upper/lower sets for $150, $80 each if bought seperately. 860-666-8827

Do a search, a lot has been discussed about CMT as of late.

Looks like RussB beat me to the request.  I can post pics of the finished rifles, if you like.

I used a CMT receiver to build a J&T kit on. Looks great and runs flawlessly!
