I think most charge $20-$25 for a transfer, there are a few that are lower, and some that are higher, it sounds like you need to look around a bit! Try this webpage, you might be able to do some good:

I charge $15 per 4473. $20 if multiple pistols cause I hate to do the form and try to discourage it!
$75 for NFA items. Storage fee after a year. |

mine charged me $35 for transfering a ar lower. It's a bit much but that's what they charge on everything. there a class 3 dealer.

My local guy does 10% of the cost of the firearm, up to $500. After that, it's $50 bucks. I figure he's gotta make his money too. He also sells for 10% over dealer cost.

$20 is normal..thats what I have found across CT. I'd say $50 is very steep, but as was said, he has to make money too.

Mine charges $20 in West Texas.
When I lived in Central IL, I had a couple of dealers that would charge $20 as well. $20 is standard. $50 is, well, a little higer than "normal." Shop around, surf on the net, and you'll find someone in Houston who will do it for $20. |

i have two shops close by one chares $15.00 and the other charges $25.00.i use the $25.00 shop because they are easyer to deal with,just give them your money they run the nics check then give you a signed copy of their ffl and you take it from there.2 minutes of paperwork when the gun comes in and your done.couldn't be easyer than that.
they look at you funny when you order guns they have on the shelf though. |

I've routinly paid $25 for a transfer of a firearm.
Juggernaut was able to buy so much stuff and the FFL's thought that it was too cool that a 19 year old knew 10 times more that the average savant that walked into their store that they gave him transfers for $10. Now a few years later, he's an armorer, gonna have an SOT at his disposal and all the class 3 he can handle. Me, I'm still paying $25 for a transfer - go figure. That's what I get for getting my kid started in firearms. |

A local police officer who's got FFL does it for me for $15. Most local gunshops charges $20 or $25.

back in my 'ol town i know a guy who still does 'em for $10. it doesn't matter how much the gun costs, either, 10 bux. he says he's not really out to make money, he's in it to make sure honest/law abiding people have the defence tools they need. he's cool. locally (my new town), it's a little steeper, but one guy i know still only wants 10 bux if it's a stripped lower.

Mine is Collector Rifle in Hopewell, NY and he has a formula that changes when the firearm comes. He is a rapest on transfers and also insist tax must be collected on out of state sales.
A $1500.00 out of state gun transfer cost me $1790.00 out the door. The first and last transfer I will have him do for me. He does have very good prices on his in house firearms though. |

I have a guy that charges me $10 no matter if I order off the internet or he orders the gun for me. That is including the instant check fee.
When I got my Mega lowers I used another guy and he only charged me $5 to cover instant check. I use the guy that charges $10 most though because he is only about 500 yards up the road from the house. Also he is not a gun store owner per say. He deals guns out of his grocery store. Everything is special order he don't stock anything. The other guy runs, get this, A computerstore/restarant/internet cafe/gunstore, all in an old Synagoge. Great guy and GOOD food. That is where I get most of my computer stuff but have not bought any firearms from him as of yet. But that is only because I seldom by any thing off the shelf any more. I was tempted to buy the Bushmaster carbon 15 he had though. |

They are cool about private praties or anything that they do not normally stock, but are hazy about other dealers who have it for less. I tend to try and avoid that situation as my FFL is a little mom and pop operation and is very good to me. Just about all the FFL's Ive been to wanna charge full retail to order something. One I went to only charged 25 but I had to order it from the company, then he wanted the company to contact him THEN he would send the company a copy of his FFL. Seemed like an awful long an drawn out process. So I said fuck it.
Although I did recently find a place that says they only charge 20, but i have yet to use them. |

My local dealer charges $10. When I lived in Miami, Florida I had a dealer charge me $75! I bitched, but eventually I paid it. I never stepped foot in that the dealers shop again.

$20 for the first 4473.
Recently I purchased four RRA stripped lowers and he charged me $50 for all four. Real decent guy too. I buy all of my guns, parts, reloading supplies and pistol ammo from him. Even though his prices are a little more expensive than I would pay online I'd rather give him the business. Good dealers are hard to find. |

I have an uncle who does my dad and mine for free, but he lives halfway accross the state. I usually get them in town for $10 from a local pawn shop.

Local guys are $40, you pay before the item ships, and one of the other locals replied "you can't own anything like that in CT" when I asked about ordering Century R1A1 FAL receivers. So I went all the way across the state, he charges $25 per form, will order you anything at his cost as long as you pay up front, and he's got tons of cool toys. It's worth the one hour drive.

one place charges $25 for the 4477 and you can fill that sucka up win S/Ns if you want. I bought 3 eagle arms receivers from quantico arms and it cost $25 to transfer all three.
the other place charges $45 but I've only ever transfered one gun through them. now back in Alaska... SIGH... there was a guy that charged $10 for the first one plus $5 per additional gun. |
