Justin did a good job on these receivers, but I have two CNCd AR-10s by Rick(ARs4EVER).
I would be hard pressed to find a better looking AR-10 receiver out there. After I finnished them, they function as good as they look. |

It is also worth noting this lower is no more than 50% done as opposed to 80% as advertised...
This would be one tough project IMHO. |

Gotta agree with ya QB. I think Justin quit just a bit too early on this one.
Even with his provided "solid model electronic file that you can use to get dimensions from", this would be a tough project for anyone without a full blown machine shop to complete. All that being said, however, it will probably go for a very large price. More power to him! All good . . . . Doug |

Justin does excellent work but I tried to email him about the grade of aluminum he's using. 6061 will not stand up to the pounding of a rifle. 7075t6 barely costs a few pennies more and machines a thousands times better.
I'm not atacking his work just the material used. I'll all for making your own. I actually don't own any AR15 or 10's [;)] Rick |

I hadn't even noticed that these were of 6061. I've got to agree that it's probably not the optimum material for an AR10. The fire-control/mag release/takedown pin holes are drilled...Top plane is milled...He probably didn't want to get "over" 80%... Sixth day of bidding: 710 hits, 3 bids ($217.50) BTW: I received one of those Les Baer $80 (*not* 80%) forged lower AR-15 blanks; the only thing machined is the magwell...And Les Baer put some serious $$$ into getting a custom-ground magwell broach made...The opening is just beautiful...Dead-on spec, too - no fitting required... ...But everything else needs machining... |

That's not 80% but more like 40%. He is allowed to either edm the magwell, or finish the buffer tube w/threading.
Also, I'm surprised that Armalite has not alerted Ebay to close down the auction. AR-10 is a legal trademark that Armalite defends agressively. |

I recall reading (possibly in Justins thread at Roderus) that some AR-10 lowers are machined to accept M14 mags, rather than the AR-10 mag. Possibly Justin left it unmachined so the buyer could decide (I'm guessing)... I seem to recall the magazine is canted in the AR-10, either 6 or 4 degrees, rather than vertical like the AR-15... What, someone bid *under* the last bid??? (How'd that 4th bid get in there???) I'm guessing that it goes for ~$300...And the hits = ~1000... I read on one of these sites that the AR-10 uses the same fire-control parts as the AR-15...Trigger, hammer, etc...Don't know if that's true or not, but in the thread at Roderus Justin did say that he was able to modify one of his drill jigs for the AR-10 blanks...So this may not need a whole lot of expensive parts after all... ...Just somebody with a lot of patience... |
