I finally save enough money to buy a kit or a complete rifle.  So many choices, can you help me narrow down?  Which would you buy for under $1000?  RRA, Model 1, J&T?
Any other good web sites?
Thanks!

Another great site to learn about builing your own guns, not just assembling them is Roderus
Custom, not as busy as here, but great people who will help when they can.

http://www.roderuscustom.tzo.com/

between here and there you should be able to learn about all there is to know on building and maintaining AR's.

If you are decent with your hand and your able to follow directions,a kit is a very good way to go. I have seen complete rifles around 860.00 and I believe it have a life time waranty." Not positive but I'm thinking thats what I seen. I bought a 16" upper kit from Model 1 and a lower of AR-Toys.com assembled the lower with plans off of this site and I'm real happy with what I ended up with.
And I only have about 540.00 invested.

Sorry, but it was just too good to pass up...  MADE YOUR LINKS HOT!

FWIW - get a RRA lower, a DPMS lower parts kit and a J&T Upper, stock and grip kit, you'll spend 550 -600 and pocket the rest.  When you get done, you'll have working knowledge of the internals of the AR and you'll have a rife that will shoot at least the same as everyone elses, and better than some out there now.

(edited 'cause I missed one)

[:O] Whoa!  Way to go, xanadu - that must have been a pain in the a$$, I was far to lazy to do that.  Thanks!

My Next Build will be a J&T with the chrome lined barrel.

After my first, which I admit I screwed up worse than most, but now shoots well enough to hang on my wall [8)], I watched and listened and observed about the different kit manufacturers.

My final conclusion is that J&T is the way to go.  That extra twenty-five or thirty bucks over some of the others is ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT in the level of customer service they provide.  That, and J&T gets high marks from other builders here.

And as soon as my wallet starts weighing me down again, I'm gonna be another happy J&T Customer.

Okay, gonna put down my pompoms and take off this stupid little skirt now.

Have to go with Panz on this.  J&T prides themselves on quality.

Built my first for around $550 including forged lower.  The barrel is really tight and acurate and can't beat a Colt trigger system.

Bought my Bush M4 for $850 at a gunshow.

Hope that helps,

Tj
