Why is it that every barrel I've found in 1 in 8 twist is always stainless steel (with the usual $20-$50 increase in price)?
Am I missing something here?  Is is impossible for someone to make a 1:8 barrel in chome-moly?
I await enlightenment.
Thanks, LLanero

edited to ask another question:  Is paying twice as much for a chrome bolt carrier group cost-effective when compared to a non-chrome bolt carrier group($85 compared to $160)?

Yeah, I'm building one on the cheap...but I still want it to be trustworthy.

Olympic Arms sells 1 in 8 plain steel barrels in a variety of lengths.

If you are building a cheap gun then go with a regular manganese phosphate coated bolt/carrier group.

And if you are building a great performing rifle, still go with the standard finish bolt carrier group unless you want to score BIG BLING-BLING points. Then, go with the unnecessary chrome.

You can pick up an Oly SUM for pretty cheap as well.  If you are looking for a standard non-chrome 1-8, I would go with the Oly, they make some real good barrels.
