Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Barrel nut and upper receiver thread incompatability

Has anyone encountered a mismatch between the barrel nut threads and the threads in the upper receiver?  I have a barrel nut with flat threads and a receiver with deep "V" threads and the WILL NOT go together!  Any ideas out there?

Sounds like a bad barrel nut because the threads should not be flat.

The thread on the nut may be incomplete. You can buy a thread chaser (tap and die set) from Brownells (tap # 080-598-125). Or just send it back from whence it came and ask for a replacement.
