It does just unscrew, but there might be some threadlock on it. Try heating the tube with a soldering iron, up against the reciever collar, to loosen it up.

I just heated it up so much I couldn't touch the lower without a pair of gloves on and the motherfucker still won't budge AT ALL! I knew this colt piece of shit was gonna give me troubles

Standard threads, left to loosen. Also, when it starts to move, catch the buffer retainer and spring that are held by the buffer tube.

I wonder if it is blue or red loctite. I just read that if red loctite is put on steel then inserted into aluminum.. allow to bond.. then unscrew it will take the threads off or something like that.

I don't know about that. I had to heat mine up (Colt) to get it off and the loc-tite was all kind of white, flakey stuff. Can't remember if you could even tell what color it was.

Yup.
Sporter Match HBAR. I used a propane torch and feathered all around the ring at the rear of the receiver. BTW, both parts are aluminum so go gently. |

"ALL" of the screw threads on both the M16 and on the commercial AR15 are "right" hand threads.
Even the "Brit's" stay with all RH threads on their U.S. spec. weapons. HTH . . . . Doug |
