Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Carrier Key Installation

Has anyone got any thoughts on whether or not lock-tighting the carrier key screws in place is sufficient or should they be staked in place in the tradional method.  Or what about doing both.  This would seem like a bit of overkill, but I thought I would just see what everyone else thinks.  Thanks

The carriers come both ways, staked or just loc-tite, depending on the source. I did both on the one I changed, but the carrier that I removed the key from had just loc-tite, and I did have to drill out  one of the screws.

Loctite softens and let's loose when it gets hot.  I would just stake them.

When you guys stake the key, how much metal are you peening?  

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I am going through the same dilema right now as well.  LocTite is easier, but I want to do it right.  On the other hand, I don't want to stake it and not have it be secure enough....
