Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - New Barrel Fit in New Upper?

When putting a new barrel into an new upper. How tight should it be?
- Should it slide into the upper with no resistance?
- Should it be pushed hard or tapped in?
- Should in be hard and require a hammer and block?

I've never had to use a hammer, just thumped  it with the heel of my hand if it was tite.  Most you could just squeeze together (but I'm a very burly strong type guy [;)]).  You should put some type of anti sieze compound on the surfaces first.  I use Moly grease.

my new colt 20 inch hbar just slips right in the new a2 bm stripped upper i just got. not tight at all. my other is an a1 upper with an off the wall barrel with no markings at all, and it fits real snug in the a1 upper.
