My Mega Lower is in the mail, and I am looking at J&T and Model One for finish kits.

I REALLLY like the Commando kits, but can find no more than a vague description.
They seem to have a 16" total permanently attached barrel fixture, with 4 or so inches being a flashsupp or compensator.

Are these pre-ban only?
Anyways...the shorter the better, if its not legal...how short can I make it?

Those are preban barrels since they have a flash hider.

If I understand you correctly,

16" is the shortest non-NFA barrel length you can have; shorter must be registered as a SBR under the NFA to be legal.

Redbone's right- strictly preban for an otherwise standard AR rifle or carbine.

Sleeve the 5.5" to cover the slots from the inside and weld/tack the sleeve at the front. Post Ban legal now. You could see if Kurt would make you a fake flash hider and permanently attach to maintain your legal 16" length.

Local shop should be able to make a sleeve, press it into place, and weld.
