Hi, I am experienced with AR's and full size M1911's, but I want to build a compact M1911 in .40 S&W as a carry piece.

I want to find a book on building M1911's that covers bushingless (bull barrel) work as well as everything else. Please recommend a book on this topic.

I am also looking at Brownell's catalog, and am not finding much that would be useful for the project. Very few .40 S&W barrels, all bull barrels are 5", only one slide in .40S&W, etc. Please recommend sources for .40 S&W parts for M1911 pattern rifles.

Thanks

I thought you were an IPSC shooter? Try www.shootersconnection.com, Chuck is a Master Limited shooter I think, sells STI and SV parts, he should be able to get you hooked up with all your needs. He is overnight "ground" for me, so maybe 2nd day for you depending on how far north you are.

I don't have much info for you but check out Rock River Arms. They have complete guns as well as parts for a 4" BBL / slide in .40 as well as .45, .38 Super, & 10MM
