get your calipers out I need the interior dimensions of the GI flashhder for a homebuild project(bolt action)in the thread area, I want to leave enough meat on the barrel.

I'm not quite certain which dimension it is that you're asking for, but I'll give it a shot. The thread for the GI F/H is 1/2"x28TPI, so if you were going to thread the barrel to accept a screwed on F/H, you would need to leave the stub .500" diameter for threading. If you were going to leave a smooth stub so that a standard F/H could simply be slipped over the end of the barrel and soldered/pinned/set-screwed in place, then you would need to leave the stub about .458" in diameter.

Either way, the threaded F/H stub on an issue barrel is .625" in length.
