Good evening, ladies + gentemen.
Per the subject, I am in the early stages of deciding on a weapon light for one of my AR-15's. The rifle in question is a Knights Armament "Legacy" SR-15 with a Trijicon ACOG 4x32 TA31F optic mounted atop. The aforementioned rifle is my go to rifle out of my bunch if push came to shove. Having said that, would the M600 USL be better suited for my needs due to the fact it has a higher output + extended reach?

I own both. I use the M300 Mini scout for a sbr, and have the M600U on my 14.5" rifle. IMHO, if I was told I can only have one of the two lights for my primary use rifle, id take the M600U all day everyday.

Make sure you consider the runtime on them as well. 1.3 hours at 300 lumens for the M300, 1.5 hours at 500 lumens for the M600.
If battery use is an issue, I'd opt for the M300 myself. |

Just got one of the 300 lumen M300's in and its very nice.
The 600 reaches out a bit further though. |

Weight between the two is negligible at 5.6 for the 600 and 4.8 for the 300. It all boils down to how badly you need the extra illumination. I was in the same boat and wanted something bright enough to light up most of a basement so I got the 600.

I would go with the M600.
Extra run time, more reach, and more lumens. Rail length also dictate the length of light I run - for an extended handguard I go with the M300C to get it as far forward as possible without extending it past the muzzle nor taking up hand space. However for a long barrel and short rail I go with a M600C as I can cantilever it forward yet stay behind the muzzle and still have room for my hands. |

I have both the M600U and the M300B. Same as some others, M300B on an SBR and the M600U on a 14.5". I also prefer the M600U for an all around light.
Not too bright for indoor use and it has some reach to it. |

I would do the m300 over the m600 because of weight but based on your rifle it looks like weight isnt your main concern so a m600 would prob serve you better

I jumped in both feet and got the m600p. It's bright as hell, great reach and decent width on the beam.

off topic but look at the tlr-1 hl 630 lumens 1.25 hours run time smaller & lighter than the scouts no need for fancy mounts. I have been using one since 2012 no issues at all

Definitely an M600U with an IWC Thorntail mount.
Here's my M300 with a Thorntail SBR (same mount, just shorter) on a KAC URX Midlenght.

I would go for the M600U , I love that light. That said, I put mine back in the box and am currently running a Inforce WMLx 500 lumen multi function w/ strobe.

Both are great; though to beat the 600U if you don't mind the added weight though....

Honestly, I have to recommend the M600. I have the M300B, and I've been considering trading it for a M600. The M600 isn't much heavier, but is much brighter.
That being said, the M300 is tiny, which is nice, and only uses one battery, another thing I like about it. |

I went with the M600U on both my SBR, and Tavor. Once in a great while, I wish the light was just a little smaller, but the weight isn't much of an issue.
The Tavor, the SBR is getting an M-Lok hand guard today, so no current pics with the light yet.
