I am in search of a red dot sight and I keep running across these sights with lasers on them.

Are these worth a darn or just a n00b gimmick?

Seems like you would save money (buying an optic and a laser sight all in one), but having a beam of light so far away from the center-line of the barrel would mean it is only accurate at a certain yardage, and anything other than that sighted in yardage would be extremely unreliable. Thoughts?

My vote is gimmick.  And a bad one at that.

2 red dots don't make for better shooting.

Gimmick. All lights/lasers must have momentary control to have any real value.
