Does anyone have the Pentagon X3? 135 lumens at $95 is an incredible deal...

EDIT: Alright, browsing around more, I pondered about my other choices. I have a E2e and would like something MUCH brighter but not over $90, if possible. I have heard about the A12 batt extender from SF that you can add on to your 6P to make it a 9v light. So technically, could I add on two A12s and get a 12v light?

What other good choices are out there? The "table-leg" styling of the X3 is also kind of a turn off

Also, are Pentagon batteries longer lasting than Surefires? My Surefires died out pretty quick, but the ones I got from radio shack have lasted, IMHO, longer.

Thanks

Hmm....thanks for the info, guys!

Since I am thinking on purchasing this for my dad, perhaps the 6P may be a better choice...

After all, he can have a 6P, 9P or such all in one

Calvin, would you have a picture of this settup?

So technically, I can use a  MN60 bulb for a M4-like performance?

Thanks for the info!

Hmm, regarding the battery, I rarely keep the light on for more than a minute. After all, if I can't find what I'm looking for in a minute with a 60 lumen light, then it's probably gone!

X3 here, unless you are in combat I would say that it is all you need for home/shtf use.

The 6P uses two-SF123As and the P60/P61 lamps.

The A19 is a body extender that houses one SF123A battery.

The 6P+A19 uses three-SF123As and the P90/P91 lamps.

The KT2 TurboHead Kit replaces the stock bezel and comes with the N2 lamp that requires three-SF123As.

The 6P+A19+KT2 uses three-SF123As and the N2 lamp (the MN15/MN16 can also be used).

This photo shows a variety of different four-SF123A powered lights.
As you can see you can create bodies using a variety of adapters but the more joints in the body the more resistance - this means the peak output and maximum runtime will be decreased. This may be a concern in some situations where the highest possible output (or longest possible runtime) is required. I tend to avoid using more than one body adapter if possible since I mostly use the high output lamps which are hard enough to power without adding resistance!

WOw!

Thanks for the pics and info!

What are the run time minutes for the 6P+A19 and 6P+A19+A19?

So with a 12v system,  I can run a 225 lumen bulb perfectly, but the lumen and runtime minutes may not be true 225 lumens and 60 minutes?

Thanks

Lamp Assemblies powered by three-SF123A batteries:

The N2 Lamp Assembly is rated as 105 lumens with a runtime of 60 minutes from three-SF123A batteries.

The MN15 Lamp Assembly is rated as 125 lumens with a runtime of 60 minutes from three-SF123A batteries.

The MN16 Lamp Assembly is rated as 225 lumens with a runtime of 20 minutes from three-SF123A batteries.

Lamp Assemblies powered by four-SF123A batteries:

The MN60 Lamp Assembly is rated as 225 lumens with a runtime of 60 minutes from four-SF123A batteries.

The MN61 Lamp Assembly is rated as 350 lumens with a runtime of 20 minutes from four-SF123A batteries.

The N62 Lamp Assembly is rated as 500 lumens with a runtime of 12 minutes from four-SF123A batteries.

Note that the lumen rating is not the maximum or peak lumen output measured. It is a realistic output considering the output decreases as the batteries are drained.
For example SureFire rates it's E2e (MN03 Lamp Assembly) at 60 lumens but when tested by a lab by another flashlight company (ARC) it was found to be in excess of 80 lumens if I recall.

The 'screaming' brilliance on fresh batteries may be dulled by increasing the resistance by having too many joints in the body. Also, this resistances makes it harder for the batteries to power the lamps especially as the batteries weaken.

If you want to go "12V" I suggest you get a 9P and the KT2 TurboHead (for use on the 9P) & the A19 and MN61 lamp when you use the A19 to add the fourth SF123A battery.

I would personally use a G2 rather than a 6P but some people prefer the feel and heft of metal compared to the Nitrolon polymer.

Have I answered your questions?

Al :)

You bet!

Thanks!

I'm probably going to go with a 9P instead...

Do they make 'em in HA or is it only in Black and Pewter?

G2= next father's day
