My funds are limited, but I am looking to get a good tac light (w/tail and pressure switch prefered) to put on a rail system on my AR. I've looked around and came across some around $160 (which is a fine price). But if anyone else can help me out with some recommendations/suggestions, I'd really appriciate it.

Brinkmann Maxfire LX - $17 at Target.  Can take SureFire headlamp assemblies and Pila batteries (with minor modification).  Mounts on any 1" scope ring.  Tested and proven to be a reliable weaponlight.
SureFire G2 - $34 anywhere.  Same, but you can get a tape switch for them, too.

Pelican M6 $35, pressure switch 18, viking mount 20. Total package $73.
Streamlight tl-3 (200 lumens) $55, viking mount 20 ..total $75. That is what I am using right now on mine and it works fantastic. Great range. I have added 17500 li-ion batteries for one hour of guilt free light.

Where's a good site to find this stuff? I've looked on impactguns.com, but is there anywhere else?

Awsome. Do you have pics of your light?

Thanks!

I would not trust the Brinkman lights for anything serious. The Surefire G2 is the lowest I’d go and that’s with a shock isolated bezel installed. This set up is used by many members here, and has even seen duty with the military, I doubt the Brinkman has. And yes, I do own a Brinkman.

Another good light is the TACM III. It is a 107 lumens. Excellent throw. They run about $100 for light with the pressure switch. I had one on my old 12 gauge for years and it took a pounding.

Lowest price for Stramlight TL-3

$45 but can find them on ebay for $55

I found this one the web with a lot lower than suggested price

You could get the light and viking mount for unde $100

The pelican lights are available from lot of sources. I got mine at a gun show. The are going on Ebay
for under $40. I bought the pressure switch at a local police supply. Though I have seen them on Ebay too though a little higher.

The Viking mount is available from direct from mfg., for Bladetech (cheaper)  of I have seen several in the EE section.

I will try to get some photos tommorow.  All the lights except the TL-3 are rated as weapon lights. Thought my tl-3  has yet to fail me.

I own a Brinkman and although I love it, I would not trust it as a weaponlight.  It has not been tested or proven in any systematic/scientific way.

I currently have a Pentagon X2, which I think is a great light.  I got it with the ARMS qd mount which is more expensive but worth it IMO.

Good luck.

Some of our members have had them on their rifles for 3000+ rounds...that says quite a bit to me.

I used to have the TACM III and while it was ok it certainly wasn't made to the standards of anything SureFire makes.  I'd use the G2 over the TACM III.  It's better quality and cheaper in price.
