There are dealers here who sell the M900 for less than $450 if I remember correctly, seems like I got my last one for $435 or so.

I haven't heard of any problems at all with bulbs, and I've had no problems myself. I did get a defective 500 lumen bulb with an M500B model (18V turbo head), I called SureFire and they sent out a replacement right away.

I've had no problems with the ARMS throwlevers.

There will be occassional lamp failures, there's simply no guarantee that you won't have one.  However, bad lamps generally are an immediate failure or happen within the first minutes of use, this is why you should put some use on your gear so you can see that everything is functional.  Considering the # of M500/900/910/96x & M3 Combatlights we've dealt with the # of failures have been quite small.  I have no hesitation in recommending those models.

The mount situation is your call, the thumbscrew mount will certainly do the job and if you ever decide you need a throw lever mount it can be upgraded to the ARMS or LT mounts.  In the case of the M900A w/ ARMS mount, it will be fine unless for some reason it's excessively too tight or too loose.

Bad batches of bulbs are a common thing. If you get a bad one you just contact SF and they will send you a replacement.

I would normally recommend folks to go with the M910A (as the ARMS lever is not strong enough IMHO), but I can also recommend my model (M9L10A). It features the new LaRue Tactical upgrade mount and it IS strong enough to take the abuse a VG receives.
