I have been reading the comments about the Brinkmann Maxfire LX light so I decided I would get one. Found one at Target for less than $17. I cut to fit a piece off of a spare Ruger 10/22 rail and had a pair of cheap Weaver rings on hand. I purchased two socket head 6-32 screws and SS nuts to mount it to the stock and used blue locktite. The nuts do not touch the heat shield on the hand guards. I located the light on the bottom handguard and it is an easy reach with the thumb to switch the light on and off. (See Pic) This is an easy project and quite inexpensive. I won't worry about a failure as I am too old for CQB and at the price of these lights you can almost buy a new one for the cost of the batteries. The light is super bright and the only complaint I have is that the switch is hard to turn on and off. I hope this encourages you to mount your own...

Not totally sure what you did here. It looks like you drilled holes in the handguard? Is that right?

That is correct, I drilled two small holes in the bottom handguard and used the two socket head screws to secure the short weaver rail...

Shouldn't be too hard to fashion a pressure pad switch for one of these, or will a Tacstar pad fit?
