You can buy an IR laser just as long as it isn't directly from the manufacturer. Meaning, that if a police dept. wanted to upgrade their IR lasers and decided to sell their old ones to the general public that is perfectly legal. C4 |

So would it be illegal if a gun store had some brand new ones, but took it out of the box and therefore it was used, and sold it to me, would that be okay?

No. You are also not going to find any gun stores with them in stock. They have to be shipped directly from the manufacturer to the LE Agency. C4 |

Generally the officer has to fax in "on Dept. letterhead" an order that has been sighned off on by the Lt., Capt, etc. The IR Laser then has to be sent directly to the police station or agency. After that nobody cares. C4 |

Stupid question but why can't cilivians directly purchase IR lasers. NVG are widely avaliable, IR filters for lights, IR chem lights why not lasers? Thanks
