Are the tactical surefire lights (combat lights) designed to handle recoil as good as weapon lights?  If not, do they at least do better than personal lights.  It seems they would have anti-shock bezzels etc since your going to be holding it up to a firing pistol, but I really dont know the details.

SureFire's flashlights featuring shock isolated bezels are not, as a general rule, designed to be used as WeaponLights because they do not retain the batteries like WeaponLights do.

So while the Millennium Series feature Shock Isolated Bezels that do give some added protection to the Lamp Assembly when used as flashlights, an important feature is Bezel and Lamp Module interchangeability between handheld and weapon-mounted lights. So for example if you have an LM90 for your shotgun forend, an M900A on your M4 and an M3 CombatLight they all use the same bezel and lamps.  You only need to carry one backup lamp and you can harvest parts should there be need.

I would suggest looking at the OP-6 from Laser Devices, Inc.   Good light capable of handheld or gun mountable usage.  Has a number of end caps for various modes of of operation.  Will most likely be more cost effective as well.
