My god the surefire stuff is soooo expensive. I don't want to pay over $300 just for a damn flashlight. I like the ones built into surefires own hanguard but they are very expensive. Anyone have good ideas for some cheaper setups?

On second thought maybe it would be more cost effective to just buy the gun without the quad rail handguard and save up for the surefire  M500AB millenium. Has anyone had experience with the M500AB?

I like the M500's.  But if you want rails you can get YHM rails that are inexpensive and run a G2 like Grant said.

YHM rails = $89

G2 = $35

Then you can get a shock isolated bezel or a clickie tailcap or tapeswitch or tons of other stuff and be well under $300 bucks, actually you will be under $200 bucks.

Where do you get the G2 tape type switch?

The Scorpion is not 105 lumens, it's closer to 60-65 as it's a bit less than the G2/6P/etc. P60 powered lights.  The Scorpion is just not well suited for weapons use, it can be okay for infrequent use but the G2 is a much better solution.

Grey_Ghost, if you need Surefire gear drop me a note, I'm a Surefire dealer.

Actually, hes the man when it comes to surefire products.  Cant go wrong with Brightflashlights.  I have never orded, but his reputation is that good.  I will be ordering a G2 with Z32 bezzel, P90 bulb, and +1 battery extension one day.

Here's the cheapest light/mount I have seen:
(1) D Cell maglight
(2) 6 inch piece of PVC with inside diameter same as outside diameter of Maglight, cut this in half length wise - give the other half to your cheap buddy - use the Dremel to cut slots for the hose clamps to pass through
(3) 4 hose clamps - 2 go around the maglight and PVC and 2 around the PVC and handguard
It all ends up looking like a M203 when mounted, is a bit heavy, but you aren't a girly man are you?
Edit to add:  D cells are cheaper than the Surefire batteries too!

Barely, the best deals on D cells is generally around $ .85 ea. and 123A's can be had as low as $1 ea.  A 6v (2 cell) Surefire P60 based light will smoke a 4 D-cell light in light output and still be almost 1/4 of the size &  weight of the Maglite.

BrightFlashlights, I'm just responding to the topic:  "I'm cheap, Help!"
The whole setup here is about $20 - maybe you can get something with the light output of a Surefire for that amount, I haven't found it though.
Please share your ideas on a complete and cheap - as in inexpensive - setup.
