Since I've had the L2, I've not used any of the L4's I have.
It's far more useful - I've found that it's meaning I don't use so many batteries and I use it more often but usually in the low output mode. So for your next flashlight I suggest the L2.

I have a U2. (...)
If you wished you'd not given your L4 away and you like your E2e, then the L2 is similar in size (just longer but that's never been an issue for me) If you've been carrying the M2 or L5 then the U2 is that sort of sized flashlight. I certainly find the U2 significantly easier to carry due to it's bezel-down clip but I really only carry it when I'm wearing 5.11's. Even then, often I'm carrying the L2. The L2 looks pretty cool. What does the U2 offer for the larger size? If the L2 is as bright as the L4, I can probably get by with that. When does the U2 come out? Will it cost more?

The U2 gives you a variable power wheel. You can go from 1 Lumen to 100 Lumens! I have the L2 think it is pretty nice (1 low and 1 high setting), but the U2 is WAY nicer IMHO. We should see the U2 in the next month or two.... C4 |

The L2 on high is brighter than any L4 I've got. Not more focused though. Just more light.
The U2 is a very useful light. I've tended to force myself to dial up from it's lowest setting until I reach the level (of the six to choose from) that illuminates as much as I need it to. This way I've been able to extend the life of the batteries because I don't often use the highest output. I would say the U2 sample I have starts at about 5 Lumens rather than 1 Lumen. I'd prefer it to be 1 Lumen though. I prefer the two-stage switch - SureFire have a winner with this concept. Al |

Last I heard the U2 was going to be sold at $270.
I don't think I would pay more than $300 for a U2 (and I have one so I can make an informed opinion) It's a great product but it doesn't really suit my everyday needs so I wouldn't get as much use or value out of it. As a dutylight running a Pila rechargeable battery I think it will rock! Al |

They are launching their own line of lights. They will be LED powered and have some very unique features not available on any other hand held light on the market.
I expect to see some stiff competition with Surfire. These lights are very promising and I believe they will be available around November. You should be able to get them from Blackhawk dealers from what I was told. Night-OPS |

A few months? That's how long I had to wait to get some pouches from Strategos that were "in stock" at the time. I eventually got the wrong pouches, but kept them to avoid any further hassle and delays. YMMV. -Randy |

I don't know anything about the Strategos lights but I do know that developing a new flashlight takes longer and costs far more then one may realise.
I'm sure Ken J Good wouldn't be putting his name on just any old flashlight. I look forward to find out more about them. |

I hear nothing but great stuff regarding SureFire. Which LED is the best? Brand & model - Brightness - Features - Battery life (and availability) - Durability - Is there anything else I should be asking or know? Thanks for any thoughts or input in advance! |

You're joking, right? I have a catalog that says something about an estimated MSRP of $275. Personally I have a hard time spending over $150-200 on a flashlight (not counting weapons lights). Hell, if you would have asked me 8 years ago (before I got addicted to Surefires) to pay $50 for a flashlight I would have laughed at you. But $500!? They better include a personal sized bottle of lube with that, or at least kiss you afterwards. |

While I was at the SHOT Show 2004 I was with PK when JSB was there and PK let him put one of the fat Pila LiIon batteries in the U2 and PK indicated it would be fine. I'm not up with the Pila reference codes but it's my understanding there are two sizes. The one similar in diameter the SF123A that fits in the L4 and standard body SureFires BUT NOT in the A2/L2 which are much tighter tolerance internal diameter. The small Pila is just fatter than the SF123A so it does not fit in the A2/L2. The fat Pila runs in Pila's own lights and it's this higher capacity battery that the U2 body can accept. We are waiting on PK (or somebody else from SureFire) to clarify just what the U2 will and won't be able to run on. At this point I know mine runs on two SF123A batteries. I'm sorry I can't be any more specific regarding LiIon batteries for the U2. Al |

The option to switch from red, to blue, to white, and to very bright white (100+ lumens). I'll keep waiting. WIth LEDs like they have, it should be feasible now - but apparently there is no market for it. |

Got the L2 from Grant. Very cool. The light is good for general use on low setting, and plenty bright when needed. Almost everything I could want in a light, but a little long for pocket carry. Since I have the E2E that's really no problem.
