I want to mount my G2 surefire light to my car handguards. I don't have any real heavy duty needs. Just something that would let me see what's creepin in my house. Suggestions?

Well, a GG&G UFIR or AAC rail will mount to your existing handguards.

A cheap but doable solution is just use wire tires. It won't look pretty and the flashlight can still shift at inopportune times; but it will work for short term use.

I agree with the AAC rail.  But, as far as the mount goes, spend $25 on the Fobus/First-Samco mount.  I've got one an I'm very happy with it.

Several options:

This mount from Bushmaster puts the light at 3:00 or 9:00 http://www.bushmaster.com/shopping/handguards/hpm3.asp Mounts to standard handguards (snap on/off).

You could add a small section of rail to your handguard - F4YR & I did that. Here is how we did it: http://groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/makeaflashlightmount.msnw

Or you could do what I am doing now.  I bought  Fobus M33 handguards.  Use one (sell the other or use it on your other carbine).  You can mount the handguard so the rail is at 3:00, 6:00 or 9:00. BTW I hated the AAC rail.  It wouldn't work with my FOBUS mount (or pistol grip).  I did work with a scope ring - but the ring wasn't mounted 'right' the underside of the rail is at the wrong angle and interfers with getting a really positive clamp.

Forest, I got one of those mounts once.  Sent it directly back.  It was a POS.  Not stable at all, rocked back and forth.  Not worth the postage to send it to me.  I got it in another order so I didn't get my feelings hurt too badly.
