If that is like other Surefire LED's...
It will go appx 1 hour at 60 lumens and 5 hours at 15, off the top of my head. In other words you get 1 hour of "tactical" use out of 2 123 type batteries. 60 lumens would be 6R/6P, or G2 territory. It's about the same amount of light that a Streamlight/Insight Tech M3 type light puts out. LED as a weaponlight is interesting. I wonder about the beam width. I have a Surefire "utility" type LED light. The beam is nicely focused, very even, with a secondary beam. But it is kinda of a narrow beam. That and $$$$$ would be my starting questions. |

Oly, I would say that it is going to be more like 65 Lumens for over an hour and with another 2-3 hours of useful light. Granted, the 2-3 hours won't be all that bright, it will still be useful. I don't know about price, but will find out soon. If it is anything like my L4 it will be a damn good torch...

Does Size15s have any idea if the Kl5 5w retrofit bezels will fit existing incandescent weaponlights?

The X200 has some real surprises coming for sure!
The KL5 replaces the M2 bezel on the M2 which of course is the same bezel as on the M95 WeaponLight. The KL5 will also replace the standard C2 bezel and 6P bezel etc etc. I have a doubt about the KL5 replacing the Z32 on a Classic WeaponLight because the "body" style of the WeaponLight is different to that of a standard flashlight body (email me if you'd like photos of this difference - [email protected]) It has not been confirmed to me whether the KL5 can be used on the M95 WeaponLight. I don't see why not. It's built like a tank from the photos I've seen. The KL6 replaces the M3 bezel on the M3. Therefore there are loads of WeaponLights the KL6 will fit on (M500/M900/M96/M97/M100/LM90 etc). Again, I don't see why it can't It would be great to get official SureFire okay for these setups. As always, Size15s has good intel! The X200 will have two base plates that will attach to any rail system, including HK. It will produce around 67 lumens for over an hour. If you own an L4 it will be similar to that as far as run time. I don't know if I believe them when they say it will be ready in December. Hope I am wrong...

Is that a Surefire military series pistol light with an L4 head on it? Cause that would make a lot of sense. I still say having another switch to make the LED light up soft as a built in nav light would be cool as hell. Are you listening Surefire? |

No. The X200 is not a "Military" model with KL4 Bezel. For starters, the KL4 does not fit on the "Military" model. The X200 is all new.

Just from looking at the pictures it looks like this light has a smaller profile than the 'military' series light- I'm guessing the X200 is the 'surefire reliability in a M3 size package' that people have been asking for..

Regarding the "Military" Series lights. Does anybody "in-the-know" have any info on when these may become available? Pat Rogers' article in SWAT showing off the USMC Det-1 new Kimber's showed off the light as well, and it looks like something I'd be interested in. Thanks!

Do you all really think that 67 lumens is enough for a handgun light? My L4 is fair-to-middlin' indoors, pretty weak outdoors. Now my M900A with HOLA, that's a flashlight!

I really view a handgun as a 25m weapon. It will certianly work for that. All the current handgun lights are about 65 lumens anyway except the Millenium handgun lights. I think the wider/whiter dispersed light is perfect for indoor use with the LEDs. The M900 is a bit blinding at close range with white walls so I use the LOLA and it still works out past 50 yards and I would never dream of taking defensive pistol shots at night at 50 yards and beyond.

Devl is correct. A handgun weaponlight is different from an AR15 weaponlight. It doesn't need to have the same range. The L4 does not have the same throw as say an M2 but I like its wider coverage and the run time is awesome. I also prefer the "purer" light that comes out of LED's...

I just did a class with Pat and he had one of the pistols and flashlights there. Those are special dive proof lights that surefire developed for the SF community. They only use a tape switch to get the dive rating. Because they're waterproof and only made in small lots, they run something like $500 a piece. Way out of my price range...... |

I find that the 18 lu KL1 bezel is more than sufficient indoors, and the 65 lu P60 is more than sufficient out to 25m with the beamshaper installed. Closer than 25m, the hotspot is a liability to me. I prefer the wide, even beam of the LED's.
I'm glad SF is making a lighter and smaller handgun light. DevL: you and me both. I'm sad that only the high-end SF's have a low beam. A two- or three-stage light with a sane switch layout would rock. I often find that the incadescent lights are too bright for a majority of their use. |

Anyone know if the dimnsions of the X200 compare to the Streamlight M3. I've got a Safariland 6280 for my G22 w/M3. From the picture, the look like they could be pretty close. If so, I wonder if the holster could be reshaped enough to fit it. I know a couple of guys who used heat guns to reshape their holsters so the light fit tighter and didn't wobble.
I am definately goid to get one as soon as the holster thing gets figured out. But, I'll have to wait at least until after the first of the year when my uniform allowance, since I already used it up this year. |

The X200 should outshine the L4 by a bit, since the L4 is underdriven to manage the heat output in such a small package.
However, the light quality is quite comparable, and should illustrate the difference between LED's and reflectored incandescents. |

I believe the X200 will be closer to the large KL5 and KL6 bezels than the small L4 bezel. It should have higher output because of better heat-sinking and a longer throw because of the deeper and wider reflector mounting possible.
I want to get one of the KL 5W bezels before I jump on the X200. I also want to see if the light with have other options. |

As per the new Surefire Tactics magazine, the light will come with 2 rail mounts. One for 1913 picatinny rails (1911s, ARs, etc), and one for the "universal rail" pioneered by Glock (Glock, Sprinfield XD, etc). A separate adapter will be available for HK, but not immediately. The HK adapter will actually attach to the gun, converting it from the clamp-on type to a slide rail (hopefully 1913).

I believe I saw one of these mounted to a Kimber TLE/RL II on the cover of this months Guns & Ammo. I saw it on the rack at the local 7-11, but the issue was wrapped in plastic, and I didn't feel like shelling out the cash for the mag, so I couldn't read the write-up.

LED lights dont have the "throw" of incandesants. The MAY be acceptable for indoor, close range, use but no LED light that size will light up a threat 25 meters away.
