Its enough, but thats about as far as I'd want to go with it. You may also want to consider trying the high output P61 bulb in the system. It will boost you up to 120 lumens, and this bulb also has a little more punch to it. It does, however, significantly reduce runtime to between 20 and 30 minutes as opposed to 60 with the standard bulb.

With the standard bulb, I'd say 50 was pushing it. It will be enough to ID an exposed target, but a partially hidden one will be harder to pick out, depending on what sights you are using.
The P61 bulb will help, but at the expense of runtime as new-arguy pointed out. |

This is why I really feel like the 3 cell systems are the best for carbines. The lights max effective range matches the guns range most effective range.

But the M962P seems too front heavy to use on a SIR carbine without a vertical foregrip...
Now I see why some of you love M900As. 9v and vertical foregrip in one. I do have a KAC vertical grip but it just doesn't go well with a SIR. |

A 952 with throw lever mount and tape switch wieghs 9.3oz. The 962 with the same mount is 11.5oz. 2.2oz more weight is a SMALL trade-off for the HUGE difference in power available to you.

Second pic is too much light. Target area is washed out, and your night vision would be gone.

2nd pic is too much light, I agree, but only for CQB. If outdoors, the snd, turbo head picture is actually ideal in my experience. The standard 3 cell lights have a tendency to disperse its available light. When you are outdoors, the area to fill is too great. The turbo head conversions are incrdedible. And no, you dont lose your night vision. I used one for my last night class. Didnt have any such problems at all.

I've got a three cell SureFire on my carbine. It's a little big but it sure is bright. I don't see the need for the higher output bulb. It doesn't seem to be much brighter than the regular output so I don't feel that it justifies the loss in run time.

That's my evaluation also, the smaller bezel just doesn't yield that much more light with an MN11 vs. a MN10. BUT, if you go to a turbohead bezel you can see (& justify) the HOLA's perfomance. |

I have a 3 cell 6P with a 200 lumen P91 lamp assembly, its got a red flip up filter so I can turn it on and not blind myself.
It will light up a tree line a block away, :) I had it on my AR for awhile but missed it on my side so I swapped it out for a G2. As far as I'm concerned you can never have too much light. Fritze Out |
