Ian, I don't understand - the M95 WeaponLight is perhaps the toughest of all WeaponLights - Great move getting one!

The M951 doesnt need mounting hardware, it comes with its own thumb screw mount. The M952 comes with the ARMS throw lever. It is among one of the very best lights Surefire makes for weapons.
On the other hand, the G2 is their entry level light. In addition, it is not a weapons light. It is a handheld light. Handheld lights are not built to withstand the stresses and recoil a light mounted to a weapon will suffer. M951 - YES! G2 - NO! |

i agree ...get the m951. if you're going to rely on a light for target id and target disorientation, you don't want it to fail because you used a personal (handheld) light.

What would I need to mount the M951 on my handguards (since they are plain with no rails) Would I need to get some type of rail for the right side, go to some type of different hand guards w/ rails (i.e. the M44's) or is there a way to mount the 951 on my stock handguards? I really like the 951 but I am trying to keep the $$$ down since I don't have a lot of extra cash right now.
Many I wish I was rich so I can get whatever I want and hot have to wait to save $$$... [>(] |

No offense to any SureFire purists out there, but did you happen to see all the G2s mounted on M16s and M4s during the coverage of Iraqi Freedom?
I have both SureFire handhelds and weapon lights. Good stuff. |

If I was a betting man I'd bet that those were not issued as WeaponLights. With the G2 such good value I can understand why so many wanted quality light they could afford themselves.

[>(] Well, you need some sort of rail. GG&G, Falcon Industries and a couple of others sell a short piece of Picatinny rail for about $40. You can also pick up a piece of used Weaver rail and some screws and do a home project for less than $10. A GG&G SLiC works well too, but if you are saving for a RAS, etc. I wouldn't spend the money.
