Man I need to find some CADPAT (so no Marines get mad), and one of those camera/goggles set up would be nice too!!! So how long did you get to stay in GA??

Quoted: What's that on their faces? Are they gonna be okay? View Quote LOL While I don't mind my face on the net several of the guys would prefer if I did not place their faces or names. CADPAT is a patern owned by the CF - and any civilian sale is prohibited. Any CADPAT items out there are stolen govt' property (likely some greasy supply wog linning his/her pocket - while we suffer with less.) Actually up here we use WOG as a disparagin comment on non combat arm trades

View Quote The way I heard it was that after WWII, when Ethiopia was liberated by the brits and emperor Haile Selassie ( the Lion of Judah, etc., etc,) was returned to the throne, the brits where wont to call the emperor "that black bastard" because I guess he really was insufferable. After Selassie heard about this and bitched to the military brass, they commanded their troops to call him "that Wonderful Old Gentleman" i.e., wog. Since then it has been used in most of the former british african colonies as a derogatory term for "blecks". The story came from a Robert Ruark book (could've been Uhuru) and is probably apocryphal. I find it quaint that it's being used to describe canadian REMFs. BTW, nice post Canadian Tactical! edited to spell candadian correctly |

How about:
Wog This chiefly British phrase is a holdover from the days of the Empire and is a disparaging term for an Indian (from India, not America), an Arab, or any other Asian. More recently, wog has been used to refer to any foreigner, or even jokingly to anyone outside the greater London area. The phrase is commonly thought to be an acronym. What the acronym supposedly stands for, however, varies in the telling: Westernized Oriental Gentleman Worthy Oriental Gentleman Wily Oriental Gentleman Wonderful Oriental Gentleman Working On Government Service This last was supposedly emblazoned on the back of shirts worn by Suez Canal workers. The numerous variations and a total lack of any evidence to suggest any acronym is the origin lead to the conclusion that these are not correct etymologies. While the origin is not known for certain, most sources agree that it is likely short for golliwogg, a blackfaced doll with frizzy hair. Golliwogg was coined by Bertha Upton in two children's books published in 1895, The Adventures of Two Dutch Dolls and A 'Golliwogg'. By 1907, the golliwogg was in generic use for anything Asian. Wog is believed to be a clipped form of Golliwogg. |

It's nice down here in GA right now (I'm about 15 minutes North of Ft.Benning). We're in our 3 weeks of winter right now... It's only gonna be 68 today :)

WOG - A shortened version of Pollywog. A pollywog is someone who has yet to cross the equator and be initiated as a Shellback. It is also used by naval personell to say that you are untraveled and dont know squat.

Having a Grandfather who was apparently an Iceback I always was willing to cut Canadians some slack. But look, those guys are flying a green flag at the range, whuts with that eh??

Sorry guys - when the pic server moved I did not re-link.
If I get some time in the next while (w/e or I have a day of short leave on the 10th) (I will report. The McM TAC-50 w/ suppressor photo was taken when the range was green. |

Happy now ? |

KevinB,
What manufacturer is that from? I've seen something very similar to it, design and sizewise, worked very very well. Some of my aqquaintances and myself were very impressed by it. |

Keld,
Sorry I was out while you replied and the thread sunk below my active topics Insight Tech makes it (IIRC) it is one of a few competing for our TWS VERY VERT IMPRESSIVE. |

looking at that web of crap hanging off of those guys, it's comforting it's not used in combat yet. Get too busy messing with that brick on your arm or the antenna farm on your head and someone will sneak up behind you and clock you with a rock.

Wow, did you clean out some computer shop or something? This is not Splinter Cell here.
I don't really see the benefit, but I tried to become this technolically and tactically advanced the other night as well. My tactical tech assassin gear: http://www.usfbullshit.com/UserData/the%20dude/Images/20041020110107.jpg |

Howdy yall!
Those pics of the land system show it has come a long way in the last few years. I saw a setup at Aberdeen proving grounds that was way worse and was in the 50-70+ lb. range. It was all battery. I hadn't seen or heard anything on it in a while. Great pics. |
|
Path,
Do you know if those are working model systems or mockups? (I have not played LW in a more than a year - and doubt it came that far but...) Gee wonder when the XM-8 by GD(L) will be featured with the LW troops |
|
No clue... don't really follow it that much because it changes so frequently there is not point in trying to keep up. |
