I'm trying to buy something for my buddy's M&P15 FSP. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Does it have the sling loops on the buttstock and FSP? Then Magpul RLS Rifleman sling is pretty solid and only costs like $20

Standard nylon sling is durable, simple and lightweight

Surplus silent sling.  10-12 bucks shipped maybe?  You can just buy the clasp and some buckles and some nylon strap (color of your choice) and make a dandy sling for even less.

Something ready to go off the shelf? Proctor slings are bare-bones and good to go.

Thanks for the responses old boys. I went with the Magpul RLS since I trust my life with their products.

I'm not the OP, but thanks. Now we all now you have a tan sling of unknown make and model on your AR, attached to it (likely) by some unknown contrivance which we cannot see in the photo. Super helpful.

Sorry.

It’s a military issued Vickers sling mounted on the slot in the stock and the side swivel that’s on the barrel.

Buddy rec'd the sling but I kind of encouraged him to pick up a Magpul MOE SL handguard. Apparently the front sling swivel bracket had to be removed

Anyone know where to grab one of these? Out of stock everywhere

ETA the Proctor sling doesn’t require any hardware or swivels

@DT120

I can’t vouch for the website but it allows you to add to cart.

Most of mine have GI web slings on them.  Bought a couple of the much more expensive commercial slings with all kinds of stuff added to them.  I guess I prefer the simplicity of the GI sling.  Oh, the M1/M14 GI slings, not the thing we had on our M16A1's in basic/AIT that was harder to take off and harder to adjust.

Maybe others have their reasons for spending more on a sling, but on several of my builds I have cheaped out with CVLIFE 2-point slings on Amazon.  They suit me.  I've spent a lot on a few slings for other rifles and these cheap ones work just as well.

Works for me & looks period-correct on my three-legged dog of a XM177E2.

Any issues of heat with that setup? I figure during lond periods of fire, that front sight tower might get mighty hot.
I just got a Magpul MS1 sling for my A2 commando build. And thinking of doing a similar setup. Just worried that the FSB heating up might start to damage the paracord.

It hasn’t yet but 550 cord is cheap. The Israelis used a similar setup for their front line soldiers, and their stuff is in constant use.

For simple I concur. It just works.

BTW for those who don't know that's the strap/sling issued with a GI 2 qt canteen.

AR15/M16 Silent sling. Cheap, quiet and cheap.

I bought a butt-load of webbing and hardware for cheap from Strapworks in Eugene, OR. and make my own! Lots of fun...

Ammo Garand GI style. I like the cotton weave doesn't slide around like nylon and the simplicity of adjustment with the buckle hardware. I use a Magpul Paraclip to attach to the FSB sling swivel and a Magpul QD sling swivel to attach to the stock. The USGI clip that comes with it will work fine with the fixed sling attachment on the M&P stock.

Not just three-legged, but one-eyed and missing a chunk out of an ear.

The rifle came with a ‘Nam-era brownish-green ‘seatbelt’ sling, but it’s too short for anything more than a shoulder strap. I guess I could run it from the top of the stock to the FSB, but the rifle would hang just under my chin.

NEAT

I've made a few of the GP Strap & 550 cord "son tay" type slings

Will dig through my stash of HK hooks and rig up a couple of the more modern ones up. May be handy if I add sling points to the 870 or a carbine
