Not all AR/M16/M4 pouches will accept AK mags well. The curve and dimensions are different.

Ok, so the AR/AK pouch may be different(thanks), but how about the M4/M16 pouches?

On the MOLLE gear I am issued the older pouches that had snaps were marked as M16 and the new ones with velcro are marked as M4. The 16 ones have a complete cover and the M4 ones have only a flap. May be more things different but I am not a pouch guru.

A pouch marked AR, M4, M16 will take the standard magazine (30 round).
One marked AR/AK may be more generous in dimensions to fit the AK mags as well, just something to keep in mind. |
