I've never heard of one breaking.  I think the difference in cost would be due to tolerances and design. I.e. The YHM loop IMO is a solid loop and inexpensive, but I have had issues with the fit due to machining tolerance.  

We offer the MI and Vltor loop.  Both are ambidextrous.  Both are good to go.

Yes, there is a difference between the quality and non-quality ones.  We have done a few threads with pictures to show the differences, but the condensed version is that the cheaper ones don't lock in as well against the receiver and have a tendency to slide.  They also run sharper edges, which may not big a big of a deal if you are using an HK hook, but sharp edges have their own obvious problems that they bring to the table.  

Yes, I've seen cheap ones break, but much more often I see them on carbines sliding around on the end, and failing to lock the stock in place.  

I'll see if I can find any of the pictures from the old hosting account.  I can't find them by search either, I don't know what the thread title was.  I do remember that my pictures were pretty sad looking....
