I have a very small hand.  I am looking for a slim aftermarket grip with no finger grooves(I hate finger grooves!) that preferably offers storage for batteries.  So, is the MIAD with the smaller backstrap pieces slimmer or the TangoDown grip?  Thanks for the info.

TD I would think.

Have you handled both?

yes I have both and also the ergo, SPR and A2.
I like the MIAD better but I think the TD is a little bit smaller.

The MIAD has different front-strap and back-strap inserts so that you can adjust the size of the grip to your personal taste.

Never touched a TD.

Very tough to call....

The TD is thin, but with the smoothe front strap and small backstrap the MIAD would be awfully close... Mine are both mounted up, but maybe if I get some time I can reconfigure them and see..

Thanks guys.  I should've waited to order stuff from brownells, they offer the TD grips.  Sounds like I can't go wrong either way, but with the TD can store 3v batteries without buying an additional part.

The Tango Down certainly feel much thinner to me when comparing the two.

I agree completely.  I had to put a Handall jr on my TD because it is too thin

I wear a size 8 glove, the MIAD with small inserts fits me very well. BSW

I have both and the TD is slimmer. The sides of the TD are just about flat, but the MIAD seems to have a bit of palm swell.

Haven't held a TD in a while and don't own one, but the MIAD has a little less swell than an A2 grip with a Handall over it.  That was just about perfect for me, and my only complaint about the MIAD is that is just a shade to narrow for my ideal grip.

Ok, I had thought I had a picture floating around someplace, it just took me awhile until I ran into it.

I hope this helps.  The TD is on the left, with the MIAD on the right.

Got one with an A2?

I want a new grip, I have big palms and short fingers, and want something that isn't as fat as the A2, but a little deeper?  like a slim 1911 grip would be perfect.

Try the Ergo, I hate it, but I have large hands and long fingers.  I'll see if I can find a picture.

Ergo on the left, MIAD on the right, and no, I don't have it with an A2.

Not a problem at all, I had taken them awhile back and never used them for anything, so I'm glad they finally served a purpose.

I agree.  I have both grips installed on different guns.  The MIAD is set-up to be as thin as it gets.  The MIAD is a tenth of an inch thicker (left to right) and two tenths of an inch deepr/wider (front to back).  Beyond the measurements, the MIAD FEELS much bigger.

Thanks for all the tips.  I think I'm going to pickup a TD and try it.  Cheaper and slimmer.  I appreciate it guys.

I just though I would check if the TD will work with the magpul enhanced trigger guard.

That's how one of my ARs is set-up.  No problems for me.

...I just found a grip that I bought a long time ago that would be of interest to anyone looking for a slim grip.  I think it's a duckbill tactical grip and i've seen some les bair rifles with it on them.  Actually, there is one on the cover of the new CTD catalog, if you get it.  The grip is exactly like an A2 except it does not have a finger groove/shelf and has a small bit that fills the gap between the grip and the trigger guard.

I use the MIAD on all rifles I build now, with the largest backstrap.  My hands swallow an A2, so I prefer the grip to be deeper, and the TD just doesn't do it for me.  I think the part I like most about the MIAD is the depth, since I still have an Ergo on one lower-Ergo is thinner, and not as deep as MIAD, but still deeper than A2.  The depth is critical for me for best finger to trigger placement, even though the Ergo doesn't hold a candle to my MIADs

TD is thinner at the top and is kind of fat at the bottom.  Magpul is thicker than the TD at the top and thinner at the bottom.  The Magpul feels the same size up and down the TD has a large amount of flare toward the bottom.  I dont like the TD because it is so big at the bottom.

It does. I have this setup on one of my rifles.
