Aside from saying anything can be used as a weapon, I think the origional intent of the spikes is to assist in a steady hold.  By having the spikes poke into the ground it reduces sliding.

Going out on a limb....because nobody else will buy it?  Or because if you say something is ".mil only" you up the gotta have it factor on Arfcom?
Seriously, unless you KNOW you will only be using it on soft earth that is at least 3" deep, I really don't see the point of having that on an AR.
Use it as a weapon?  Riiiight.  If they get that close, that's what a sidearm is for.  Or a real bayonet.  I don't know that I would trust a folding bipod as a feauxbayo.
That thing is a solution looking for a problem.

Yeah, that makes sense. Cheers!

Yep, the spike model does have plenty of drawbacks. However, the Raptor one seems to be....interesting and could be beneficial on terrain besides soft earth

the bipod as a weapon thing was meant as a joke. Sorry if I sounded serious about it.

we military guys would hurt ourselves with something like that.  Why do you think harris put rubber pads on the bottom of theirs?

As far as using it as a weapon?  I think I would have better luck with a rock.

This thing look like a bayonet for a 2 handed sword...

Uhm, to the casual observer, it looks like a special bipod for the 10th Mountain guys and can be used as a set of emergency mini-ski poles.
