Which is the best pistol grip?

I know this is like asking what truck is best, but answer the question based on these things:

- Comfort
- Durability
- Grip texture
- Grip compartment secureness

I'm trying to figure out which grip to get on the AR I'm about to purchase. You ARFcommers will probabaly decide this for me!

I own hogues on both my my ar's and love them. For what it's worth I have never tried anything else except the stock grip but I have put hogues on every gun I own, and the Ar's fall in the same category.

I don't like the finger grooves on the Samco grip. They're too big. Maybe I just have skinny fingers.

I don't like the Ergo either. It's wedge-shaped.

TD is ok, but it tapers too much.

Haven't tried a Magpul grip but it should be pretty good since the profile can be changed.

I find that the Hogue forces your hand into a lower position than what is desired. I don't care for the Samco.

I have used the Tango Down, the Magpul, and the Ergo. I like all of them.

But take into consideration that what fits me or anyone else here may not fit you.

The nice thing about the Magpul grip is you can customize it to fit your hand, no other grip on the market does that. I wear a size small glove, I have let people try a couple Magpul MIAD's that I have on hand (letting them configure it the way they want it). I have not found anyone that was from 4'11" with a size XS glove to a person that is 6'6" with a size XL glove that couldn't find a configuration that they liked.

If you can try each of the grips out to see which one feels best to you.

Pretty much my thoughts, too

I have Hogue on almost all of mine.

But I too haven't used or seen the new Magpul MIAD, but from what I have read and seen in pix looks good

The Hogue just has the right tacky feel, is a natural finger groove design for me.

Tried issue, fingers always seemed to hit on top of the finger stop.
Tried ERGO loved the feel but it tapered toward the bottom and did not feel right in my hand.
Tried Hogue and found that I love just about everything about it, only issue for me is I had to dremel away some of the material for the safety lever to work right.

I went to a funshow earlier this year in search for a grip. I held several, not sure which ones. I bought the Tango Down Battlegrip. It fits me well.

Much to my surprise, Hogue is taking the clear lead! I visited Hogue's site, and the grip does not appear to have a grip plug/compartment...?

Grip preference will vary from person-to-person more than just about any other AR part. I really like the TD battlegrip, yet my friend finds it much too slim. My stock A2 grip wasn't toooo bad, but the finger grove tended to force my ringfinger just a tad lower than it would have naturally rested without it. TD + Magpul trigger guard is the perfect combo for me. Love the texture too.

I have the A2-ish front strap and teh biggest backstrap on mine with a AA carrier core.

Everything is tight, the texture is great, and it fits my hand really well.

Houge and ERGO are tied in my mind. ERGO because it brings your hand back further for better trigger pull, and the Houge for comfort (although it is rather small for me).

For me, the 1st Samco is the most comfortable, but I haven't tried the MIAD.

You should definitely try several of them out before buying or just going by posts here, as what you find comfortable may differ greatly from what other here do.

I just emailed Falcon Ind (Ergo-Grip) 11-24 my evaluation on the very grips you mentioned sans the First Samco. It was an exhaustive study requiring many trips to range and salvage yard to determine which was 'it' for me and after 10 months of this and that, although I have a TD on my rig right now - I preferred the Ergo-Grip Ambi I hear there is a new design in the works those enhancements will be internal so appearance will be the same. My Ergo-Grip is shot not literally but I have had it for four years on my weapon for almost 3years so I need a new one.
I liked all the grips but I could describe one as a puzzle another as a stair riser and another as a broom handle, but its all personal preference. I like the Ergo IMHO ...

There are several variations of the Ergo - the righty, the ambi, the rhino rubber covered. I have an older Rhino hide version which I swear feels large though I am told the undercore is scaled down so the final size is the same as the non-overmolded version. The newer overmolded Rhino version feels better than my old model and may make a significant difference in how they feel in your hand.

Had a Hogue and Magpul. Like the ERGO Target AR with PALM REST-Sure Grip. I like the bottom hand rest area. Makes it easy to hold weapon up at shoulder w/ 1 hand while getting a new mag or candybar or beer!!

For a basic carbine, only one choice. Magpul. Get the full package (you'll get a trigger guard too). What I like about it, is that it fits my big hands well, is comfortable, has good texture, and won't leave your grip wierd if you need to swap from a right handed to a left handed stance. It's hard, which is something else that I wanted, Hogue's are nice, dont get me wrong, but I wanted something that wouldn't get torn, etc if it got treated roughly. It's more expensive, and I'm not saying that the others are crap, just that I am very pleased with the magpul (just got it a few days ago). Also a shameless plug for the Magpul 93 (I got the A2 version at a good price). Rock solid, has substance, is a bit heavier (but that can be a good thing, balances out the rifle better). The only problem is that it is a bit difficult to figure out how to install the first time.

I have Hogue Grips on everyone of my firearms that they make a grip for.
AR's, 1911's, Ruger Handguns, Taurus Handguns, Winchester 1300 Defender grip & forend...
Now, if they only made a grip for AK's.....

Hogue. After using my A2 for awhile, the hogue feels really nice!

Tried a G27, I didnt like how the top felt so narrow. Maybe it's just that it's set further back that makes it feel weird.

I have the "OverMolded" 10/22 stock from Hogue also...same feel as their AR grips.

Another vote for the Mag Pul MIAD. I've used the SPR and the Ergo, but prefer the MIAD for my general purpose or CQB weapon. I have the preproduction version with grip tape panels.

I wish I could see the poll answers without voting (and therefore skewing the results). I'm looking into replacing the grip on my AR, but am not 100% sure what I want to go with. I like the features of the Tango Down (water-tight battery compartment, also functions as a gapper), but don't know if I want to spend that much on a grip I might not like.

I guess what I really need to do is play with others' ARs configured with various grips to see what I like.

My $.02; The TangoDown fits my hand like a glove. I've never actually used any others besides the standard A2, although I held a Hogue that was not attached to the lower( didnt like it, the finger grooves didnt fit my fingers). The grip texture is nice, and the storage is obviously a plus too.

i have hogue and also ergo suregrip...
ergo has better rubber,,stick to my hand better...but grip is to small and narrow...

i prefer hogue rubber grip over ergo grip
