The advantage of wider webbing on a 3 point (or 2 point) sling is improved weight distribution. Something you definately want for long treks.
The CST (cross shoulder transition) 3 point sling would be ideal for your intended purposes. Quality materials, quality construction, an array of carry positions, wider webbing all sound ideal for long treks through the woods. Reasonable price as well.
You might also check out the SOC-C modular system from
Blue Force Gear A bit more pricey, but worth the money as far as I am concerend.
Either one would suit your needs.

Don't think I am ignoring you!
Its just really hard to recommend another company's product when I manufacture a single point sling myself.
That said, the CQB Solutions Specter MOUT sling would suit your needs, as would the Troy Industries Single Point, as would the UDC from Blue Force Gear etc.... there are many single points on the market to choose from.
