looking for cases/boxes for these that will fit in a 'discrete' weapon carry bag..padded would be nice..or i might try to craft something if someone has an idea about what materials to use

try a basball card store. they have lots of small boxes that hold baseball cards. they come in various lengths

How about a pistol size "gun rug?"  One for a snubby should be about the right size for the EOTech, and the next size up for the ACOG.

thanks for your input !  starting with the 'padded pistol rug' idea, i progressed thru the various padded pouch types and ended up buying 2 padded camera pouches (cheap..$10 each)..they are ballistic nylon type and 7" x 4" x 3" which should be large enough to hold an ACOG with attached QR mount..i think EO Techs with mount will be 1/2" - 1" or so shorter..total thickness of padding should be 3/8" discreet case + 1/4" camera case plus several fabric layers...i'll find a way to use hook/loop straps to secure them in the discreet case
