I shoot in Highpower competition, and a good shooting sling is an excellent asset in obtaining good accuracy.

But for tactical use, the adjustable leather sling would seem to be awkward.

What I'm interested in is some type of tactical sling which you can loop up for shooting very quickly. I'm not so much concearned with something specific to CQB, but basically a good carry sling that can be used as a shooting sling without worrying about adjusting it. Maybe something with a fixed loop that you can throw your hand through quickly, and which solidly attaches to the front.

My guess is that there isn't anything out there like this, but I have to ask . . .

This is a version of the Slip Cuff sling.

get the M-24 model from tactical intervention.... it's great- no adjusting... just buckle in and you're ready for accurate shooting- leave the sling long for whatever else you need..... i just got his singlepoint and it's also a great sling.... good guy to deal with to boot- very active over on www.snipershide.com

I believe you have just precisely described a Ching Sling: As originaly developed by Eric Ching at Gunsite. The Wilderness in Phoenix makes a jim-dandy nylon version (have one on my 20" AR) and Galco (also in Phoenix) makes a premium leather model (which I have on my Scout).

Better check the regs. I don't think a Ching or any other type of "tactical" sling will be legal in Highpower.

From the CMP rule book:

Slings: Must be standard-issue leather or web slings or similar slings of commercial
manufacture. Leather or web slings may be no wider than 1 3/8" and
no thicker than 3/16". Leather slings may have no more than two keepers no
wider than 7/8" each and made of leather no thicker than 3/16”. Stitching,
brads, rivets, or staples may be used to join keeper ends. The overlap at the
joining area may be no more than 1 1/8" and must be on the flat, i.e.; may not
go around the curved edge of the keeper.
