Ok, I'm embarrassed to ask this, but here goes.  I just bought a Bushmaster Shorty 16" AR-15, and of course it came with a cheap nylon sling.  Until I learn more about what GOOD sling I should put on it, I figure I'll put the cheap one on.

But, for the life of me, I don't know the proper way to do this.  When I put it on how I think it should go, then a strong pull on the sling allows it to slip out of the "buckles".

Is there a web site with some pictures/descriptions on the proper way to secure these?

Thanks,

perhaps your too manly? haha

I honestly can't see how thats happening. Basicly run the nylon through the buckle once(as it was when it came) loop it around the loop on the upper, then smush it back through the SAME buckle. Honestly dont see how yours is falling out.

use some immagination :)

Sorry if i couldnt help ya.

I figured it wasn't too difficult, but I seem to be having trouble with mine.  Maybe the buckles are wrong or something.

I'll fiddle with it some more.

In the meantime, what is the defactor recommended sling for a non-competition beater/shooter/plinker/home-defense carbine?  :)

Honestly, that's why I went out and found the CQB Solutions sling.  A month after having my new Bushmaster, I was upstate with friends.  We were plinking cans on his land, when I set down my rifle to reload some mags when the sling came loose sending my rifle muzzle first into the dirt.  I really dislike those "silent slings."

Jim Crews recommends fishing the end of the strap back through the buckle when you are finished threading it.  This gives you 3 layers of material through one side of the buckle and it WILL be locked in place.

I wish I had a pic to show you - but you can get Jim's Urban Carbine manual from his website (HIGHLY Recommended) www.marksmans.com
