I was hoping to find one shorter than 18 inches to more closely fit my 12 inch long scope.

I have one I bought from lightfighter it is around 12 inches long. I think it is Eagle or BHI (probably doesn't matter for this piece of gear). It is black and new. If you want it let me know (figure out how much they go for and make an offer).
Your other option is a custom job from ScopeCoat. They did a custom job for my Aimpoint that has worked out fine. JAW |

Eagle and Blackhawk each make a shorter cover that is made for covering smaller optics like Trijicons and Aimpoints. They can usually be easily ordered and I sometimes keep some in stock, depending onthe color.
