Looking for a quality 458 SOCOM scope recommendation. No plans for serious hunting, just a moderate price quality scope for general shooting. Thoughts?

What is the maximum range you plan to shoot with your 458?

When I think about buying a 458, it is short distance for self defense.  An Aimpoint would be on mine.

Are you interested in an LPVO, maybe a Vortex?

I went with a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x. I haven't used it much, but I sighted it in and have shot it on multiple range sessions at 100 yards. It seems like a winner so far.

I am surprised this thread didn't get any traction.

I plan on using for shooting at no more than 100-150 yds - nothing too serious. I will look at the Vortex Strike Eagle.

Get something that's not real close to your eye.  .458 is a pretty good shove in a lightweight rifle.

Not 458 but FWIW I use a simple red dot on my 9x39 subsonic AR and it works well out to 200 yards, but there's also nothing wrong with some magnification if you prefer that

I just ordered Atibal Striiker 1-4 from Optics Planet. It is showing mixed reviews. They have a really good price on it right now. Seems to me 100-150 is a reasonable range for this scope. Couple reviews talk about the long eye relief.

This is fairly popular on big bore lever actions. I bought a used one on the EE but haven't put it on anything yet. 5" of eye relief.

I have a Bushnell AR Optics FFP 1-4x on my 10.5". 4x is really all you need with the SOCOM.

Burris RT6 is often recommended, $349 seems a common price. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1018441862?pid=898760 I see one on the EE for $300 at this moment.

This one has been suggested as an excellent bargain https://www.eurooptic.com/Bushnell-SMRS-1-65x24-ILL-CQ-BDC-Riflescope-ET71624.aspx $569

I have used a 458 SOCOM to hunt deer for about the past 6 years or so. I use a Leupold Hog 1-4x. Works really well for this application and I haven't had any issues.

I have a Burris MTAC 1.5-6 on my 6.8. Use it for hogs out to maybe 200 yds. I like the larger objective lens over most LPVO scopes. Natchez has them at a very reasonable price.

I have a 1-4 Accupower on my 10.5" 458.  I honestly would like a 1-6 just to have that little extra magnification just for load development, but other than that it has been a great scope and I've had no issues in probably over 1k rounds fired.  I'll probably wind up getting a Credo 1-6 to put on to my 16" 458 eventually.
